But we would love to have you come along as we journey throughout the greatest artform in history, cinema! We are going through the process of watching movies, discussing their ins, outs, themes, cinematography, directors, actors, how the film made us FEEL. And we are reading books on movie critique and review, while just laughing our way through the podcast and having a blast. So come and let's talk cinema together, and even grow and learn in our movie critique, discussion, and review repertoire. I truly believe deep diving into movies and reviewing films only creates a deeper fascination with this beautiful artform. This is a movie review podcast for the person searching for people that do not take themselves serious, enjoy laughing, comedy, self(cohost)-deprecating humor, and deep and fantastical movie discussions.Movies are magic, and they make up the very fabric of my DNA, so I would love the chance for you to come and nerd out with us as we watch as many as humanly possible and then talk about them- what's better than that!? Get Ready for Spooky Season: 'The Last Voyage of the Demeter' and 'Cobweb' Movie Reviews and Discussion
We review and deep dive into The Last Voyage of the Demeter, aka the Captain's Log chapter from Bram Stoker's Dracula novel, and then we find ourselves on Halloween night stumbling into Cobweb, a brand new horror flick that crawled into theaters during the Barbenheimer mania and then slithered away to VOD as quickly as it arrived- don't miss it horror fans!
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is in theaters now, and we start off with a spoiler-free movie review and then we announce when we embark into our spoiler-filled deep dive! Directed by Trollhunter and the Autopsy of Jane Doe's Andre Ovredal (André Øvredal) and starring Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, Woody Norman and co, The Last Voyage of the Demeter gives us a Dracula the likes we haven't seen since Nosferatu, a truly terrifying beast with a captive crew on the high seas sailing for London with mysterious cargo and a lot of hiding places. This is a brutal horror period piece that borrows one of the most legendary IPs in literature and gives a unique, haunting beautiful spin on the old tale. This is a snapshot in the life of Dracula, one that hardly spares a single soul, but it is truly a beautiful moon and lantern lit slight and one you need to catch on the big screen- or do you?! Listen and find out! This is a beast that masquerades as a man, and this film is all creature feature baby!
Cobweb! From the Blacklist and Bloodlist- we review this victim of Barebenheimer because we don't want original horror to just disappear without being watched! Cobweb came to some movie theaters July 21st, coinciding with the biggest zeitgeist event in recent cinema memory, thus it left theaters shortly after and is already available on VOD for rent and to own. Cobweb is directed by Samuel Bodin and stars, the kid in both films of our double feature, Woody Norman, the amazing Lizzy Caplan, Homelander, I mean Antony Starr, and Cleopatra Coleman, and is set right around HALLOWEEN and the perfect cozy nightmare fairly tale watch to get you ready for spooky season! As IMDB puts it, 'Horror strikes when an eight-year-old boy named Peter tries to investigate the mysterious knocking noises that are coming from inside the walls of his house and a dark secret that his sinister parents kept hidden from him,' but that is only the first 66% of this film. In a very Hitchcockian way you really have two movies here, some of the most unique imagery and shadow play seen in a very long time, and a haunting story that lives in the moody autumn that is to come. Listen to Bobby and I battle it out over this film, and please leave a 5-star hitter review and your thoughts on Cobweb! And Dracula on a boat for that matter!
Cobweb is a one-of & no rules Halloween tale! Barbarian, Coraline, and Trick 'r Treat's stepchild, on VOD now!
As always, we truly hope you guys enjoy the film reviews and discussions, and go out and see this fantastic end of summer/ pre-spooky season horror double feature! Queue the red, auburn, and orange leaves dancing to the ground, the pumpkin in the coffees, and the horror movies on your screens! God bless, enjoy, and HURRY UP HALLOWEEN!
But wait, there's more! 'HALLOWEEN ENDS' (2022) rant towards the end of the episode, enjoy and let us know your thoughts!
